On July 5, 2025, a Civic Education Program targeting residents of HDh. Hanimaadhoo was successfully conducted as part of an ongoing initiative to enhance democratic values and engagement across the Maldives.
This program is one of several planned activities aimed at increasing public understanding of the democratic system, fostering citizen participation in electoral matters, promoting the multi-party framework, and encouraging ethical democratic values through inclusive community engagement.

The sessions focused on key thematic areas, including democracy, citizenship and participation, accountability and responsibility, elections and the electoral process, and the multi-party system.
The President of the Elections Commission, Mr. Mohamed Zahid, and the Secretary General, Mr. Abdullah Unais, actively participated in the event, demonstrating the Commission’s commitment to strengthening democratic values at the community level.
Interactive components of the program included presentations, group discussions, and collaborative activities, led by Director Shahula Ismail, Trainer Fathimath Zuhudha, Senior Officer Ahmed Asim, and Officer Assistant Fadhwa Mohamed.

The program brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from government institutions, private companies, associations, political parties, and the public from HDh. Hanimaadhoo.
Certificates were awarded to participants who successfully completed the one-day program. This marks the second civic education initiative held in the atolls this year, following a similar program conducted in L. Fonadhoo in May.
