NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING HELD FOR THE LOCAL COUNCIL AND WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ELECTIONS

The Elections Commission convened the National Advisory Committee for the Local Council Election and Women’s Development Committee Election today, 15 January 2026 at 10:00 a.m., at the Elections Hall, marking the first advisory meeting in preparation for the upcoming elections.
The Advisory Committee has been established in accordance with the relevant electoral laws to provide a platform for consultation, coordination, and the exchange of views among key stakeholders to support the effective and inclusive conduct of the elections.
The meeting brought together representatives from the Elections Commission, relevant government institutions, registered political parties, and two civil society organizations selected by the Commission, with a total of 32 participants in attendance.
During the session, the Commission shared important information relating to the upcoming elections, including the purpose and significance of the elections, the scheduled polling date, and key aspects of the electoral process. Discussions also covered candidate nomination procedures, application requirements, and the importance of maintaining mutual respect and cooperation among all stakeholders throughout the electoral period.
The Committee further reviewed measures to enhance accessibility for voters with visual impairments or blindness, including the use of tactile voting templates and registration arrangements to ensure their full participation.
The meeting concluded with agreement to convene a subsequent session to continue discussions and strengthen coordination efforts.
The Elections Commission remains committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that the elections are conducted in a transparent, inclusive, and orderly manner.
