ELECTION OFFICIALS’ TRAINING TO BE CONDUCTED ACROSS THE ATOLLS FOR 2026 LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTION AND WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ELECTION

The Elections Commission of the Maldives will commence the training of polling station officials across the atolls in preparation for the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee Elections. Trainers will be deployed from 11 January 2026 to conduct comprehensive training sessions for election officials.

 

Following the conclusion of the trainers’ program, the Vice President, Mr. Abdul Rahman Salah Rasheed, will highlight several key points to guide the ongoing training sessions. He will emphasize that these programs will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the electoral process and in fully informing officials about all aspects of the elections. He will further note that the training will be essential for upholding equal rights and ensuring fair treatment for all candidates.

 

The Vice President also will state that officials who successfully complete the training will be fully equipped to convey accurate and relevant information to voters on polling day.

 

A total of 7,000 officials will serve in election-related roles, supported by 95 trainers. The official training program for polling station officials will commence on 15 January 2026. Through these sessions, officials will gain a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities, the correct procedures to follow, and the importance of providing precise and impartial information to voters.

 

The Elections Commission will reaffirm its commitment to conducting elections in a transparent, professional, and fair manner, ensuring the highest standards of integrity across all stages of the electoral process.
